    My New Job Title

It’s been almost 4 months since I launched my online boutique. Crazy! It’s been almost 8 months since I left my fancy pharma job. Even crazier! I will forever call it my fancy pharma job. It’s appropriate, but it also sounds better than my soul-sucking pharma job. Anyway, here I am! Right smack dab in the middle of building a dream! I awake every morning to the sound of chirping birds. You know the ones that sing with Snow White? Yeah, those same ones. I then rise with a smile on my face and sing along. Working from my adorable little desk is riveting, and the beautiful “boutique room” that…

3 Super Easy Ways to Tone Up Without Trying

I never weigh myself. I have a number in my head that varies by 3-4 lbs and has been pretty consistent for the last 7-8 years of my life, so I just assume it’s the probably the same. With that being said, I base my “weight” off of how I feel and how my clothes fit. Be intuitive with your body and don’t let a scale rule your life. I know if I’ve eaten too much cheese or bread in a day or a week, and you probably do too. Be perceptive. Anyway, with all that being said, I “intuitively” feel as though I have thinned out a little bit…

    Breakfast Quesa-Taco

Is it a quesadilla? Is it a taco? I’m not really sure, but it sure is yummy! I created this hybrid breakfast/brunch last Saturday using leftovers from taco night and it was SO delicious. You have to try it. I aim to keep all of my cooking as healthy as possible, but this one is definitely a little bit of a splurge. However, I always use the highest quality ingredients. It’s okay to be indulgent (in my opinion) if you’re using organic, grass fed/finished meats, etc. So, here’s my recipe. Try it out and let me know what you think! Ingredients: 4 eggs splash of half-and-half 2 tortillas (I used…

    Spa Smoothie

I recently revamped my smoothie-making thanks to Kelly LeVeque. I heard about her through Jessica Alba who swears by her recipes and nutritional guidance. If it’s good enough for Jessica Alba, it’s good enough for me! It’s so common for “healthy smoothies” to be loaded with banana, pineapple, honey, etc. AKA too much sugar. Her recipes give you the perfect amount of protein, fat, and fiber to fill you up while limiting your sugar intake. Plus, they’re absolutely delicious. I’ve made green smoothies for years now, but her formula is perfection, so I had to share! This Spa Smoothie is so refreshing, gives me energy, and fills me up for…

    30A Florida Guide

Twenty-six miles of white sand beaches along the Emerald Coast. It’s as magical as it sounds. South Walton consists of 16 small (perfect, charming, beautiful, dreamy) coastal towns all connected by (County Road) 30A. The region itself feels so different from the rest of Florida (at least the parts I’ve visited – think Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Daytona, etc). It’s closer to Birmingham, Memphis, and Nashville than it is to Miami, so imagine a beach community with all the Southern hospitality, charm, and food you could want. Where To Stay – Rent a house. This year we rented a house on Seacrest. The location and beach access were perfect. Seacrest and…

    Corporate Drop-Out

I quit my job. Actually, I quit my job two weeks ago. I. Quit. My. Job. Without. Another. Job. Lined. Up. (30 minutes later) Sorry, I’m back. I typed that statement and had to fan myself a little so I won’t pass out. Maybe in a month or so I can say that without feeling faint. I’ve worked since I was 18 years old. I’ve NEVER not had a job. I work until I’m bored or don’t feel challenged, and I move on to another job that pays significantly more. It’s who I am. My identity has always been wrapped up in a job. Success and money are two things…

    The Healthiest Green Smoothie Ever

AKA my “flat tummy smoothie”! This is hands down the healthiest smoothie you can put into your body! WARNING! It’s not sweet. No frozen bananas in this baby. Because it’s very low glycemic, you won’t spike your blood sugar first thing in the morning (if you prefer your smoothies for breakfast). An added bonus is you won’t feel bloated or hungry in 2 hours since it’s so nutrient dense. I find that a lot of fruit makes me bloated, so that’s why I call this my flat tummy tea. No bloating. If I’m ever trying to fit into a particularly form fitting outfit or bikinis, I’ll add these to my…

    Current Makeup Must-Haves

A few months ago, Josh and I went home for the weekend to see family.  I’d packed my makeup bag with me, but hadn’t packed half of my makeup products.  I don’t know what I was thinking.  I had to run out to get a couple of items and borrowed a few from my Mom.  It wasn’t a huge deal, and I survived lol.  The thing is, back home we don’t have an Ulta or a Sephora close by.  So it got me to thinking, what if I’d gone home and left ALL of my makeup in Chattanooga?!  Which products would I be most upset about and have a hard…

    Figure Friendly Pumpkin Muffins

Fall is officially here, which means PUMPKIN EVERYTHING! I make killer pumpkin “love muffins” as my husband calls them. I bake them once (sometimes twice) a year on our dating anniversary. They’re amazing, but not something I would eat every day. I may share that recipe later this season, but for now let’s bake something a little healthier. This recipe is absolutely delicious, but wont make you feel guilty. Its packed with fiber and dairy free! Perfect for a quick breakfast with coffee, or a light dessert.   INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 cup rolled oats 1 cup pumpkin 1/4 cup apple butter (I use my Granny’s homemade apple butter) 1/4 cup…
