Work Wear Wednesday

Work wear does not have to be boring!

Sometimes it can be a struggle to look professional, but still maintain your sense of style.  While I do prefer crop tops and body hugging dresses (and yoga pants) most of the time, during the week I have to dress business professional.  I can’t complain though!  I love dressing up and having a legitimate reason to get dolled up each day.  And so, I’m going to incorporate ‘Work Wear Wednesday’ for all you professional gals out there who still want to look super cute on your daily grind.

This is how I start my day: coffee in hand, work bag on my shoulder, sunglasses on.  Don’t talk to me until 8:00 am, please.

As the morning progresses, I may start to reach out for human contact via text.

Every working girl needs a staple white blouse.  This one is amazing.  The quality is incredible and it’s almost 2 years old.  It’s not necessary to pay big bucks for every piece of clothing you own, but I don’t mind to for staple pieces like a white blouse, black pencil skirt, black trousers, etc.  Antonio Melani is an incredible brand!  I highly suggest their clothing for all sorts of occasions, but especially work wear.  My top is: White Blouse

Okay, I’ve had some coffee. Now we can chat!

These are my favorite pants right now.  9 times out of 10 I have to have my clothes tailored. Especially pants, skirts, and dresses (I’ll try to be specific about sizing in the future when I post clothes).  These pants, however, required 0 altering.  I’m 5’4 so I oftentimes wear petite, but the length on these are just right for me.  The waist is narrow and I had plenty of rooms for my hips/butt.  Perfect fit in my book!  I’m going to order these in black too, because they’re just too cute and comfy! Trouser Pant (also, the color on the website looks strange.  My pics are a better representation of the true army green color.)

*4 hours later* still on the phone.

These heels are from Target and actually really comfy.  I can’t find them online, but I did find these: Caged Heel  They’re basically the same shoe.  Sometimes with an outfit this simple, I’ll add a fun shoe. Because, why not?

*lots of walking*

I know that YETI, RTIC, and Corkcicle are super popular, but I am here to tell you that they change the taste of your coffee.  It’s true!  If you plan on taking coffee on the road with you, you need a ceramic mug!  I’m very passionate about this: Non-taste-changing-coffee-mug  If you don’t drink coffee, you probably don’t wear crop tops either and we can’t be friends.  I’m kidding.  My husband doesn’t drink coffee, and I only love him slightly less because of it.  Coffee is life.

No catchy caption here, I just want to share with you the best sunglasses around right now: Quay Sunnies  Also, my necklace is J.Crew and is a staple in my work wardrobe.  I’ve had it for a couple of years, but I was able to find it on J.Crew Factory!  At a discounted price, I might add: Gemstone Necklace

*fluffs hair. works some magic*

I was going to grab a super fancy designer bag for this photo shoot since I’m a professional blogger and all (insert humor), but I stopped myself.  I want to be as real as possible on this platform, and I do not carry a fancy bag on the day to day.  My Mom picked up this bag for me at Burke’s outlet, and I swear I get a compliment on it all the time!  It’s so adorable!  Unfortunately, I can’t find it online!  So no links here, just some encouragement to browse Burke’s Outlet, TJ Maxx, Ross, Marshalls, etc.  Having good style doesn’t mean everything in your closet is designer.  In fact, I’ve seen girls before who wear nothing but designer and have zero fashion sense.  A label doesn’t mean you look cute, sorry.  So, do you. Don’t cave to all the pressure to be a label snob.  Oh, and I’ll add my bracelet is a David Yurman knock-off just for good measure (hehe).

All you working girls out there, keep it up.  It’s not easy.  If you’re a working mama, it’s not easy times 10.  Support each other and show kindness and love as often as you can.  Us girls have to stick together out there!!

xoxo,

DeAndra Lynette

I honestly have the worst time with dressing for work! I never feel like I look like myself, and because I work in the government sector I drift towards a more modest (frumpy) wardrobe. I’m excited to get some ideas, Dee!

I’ll try to keep posting some good outfit ideas! My work clothes are still ultra feminine even though they are professional. Thanks Stephanie..you’re the best!

You make some great points sis about spending a tad more on staple pieces. When it comes to fabric/material you do get what you pay for the majority of the time. And yes, those outlet stores very often have hidden gems in them if your willing to really “shop”, but lol….like that’s really a “problem”. Look forward to your upcoming posts!!😊

Thank you Boozer!!! I love you and I’m so glad you are reading along. I love the outlet stores too, but sometimes they are a tad overwhelming just because there’s SO much!!
      Love you!
